Dogs do not come with a manual. We have to learn how to understand them, teach them and help them make sense of the world.

Behaviour Change

From struggles to successes

One to one support for adult dogs, for owners who want to understand what is actually going on rather than spend the rest of the dog’s life managing it.

Is your dog’s behaviour making everyday life feel difficult?

Maybe your dog reacts to other dogs. Maybe visitors are a problem. Maybe they ignore you completely the moment anything interesting happens, or the world simply seems to be too much for them, or there are certain situations where they become impossible to manage.

Maybe you have started anticipating what might happen next. Avoiding places. Changing your route, or your timing, or your plans. Worrying about what other people are thinking about you and your dog.

This is probably not how you pictured life with your dog.

You do not have to work it out on your own.

What this is

Behaviour Change is for owners who want more than a quick fix. It is a personalised programme built to help you understand your dog, work through what they are finding difficult, and build the skills and the confidence you both need.

Rather than only trying to stop a behaviour, we take the time to understand why it is happening, what your dog is telling you, and what they need in order to cope.

From there we build a clear, practical plan around your dog, your circumstances and your actual week, so that you finish with the knowledge and the skills to keep making progress.

It does change

I have worked with owners who were anxious about leaving the house because they did not know how their dog would react. Their heart would be going before they had even picked up the lead, and every walk felt like a mission rather than something to enjoy. They are now walking in different places, more relaxed, because they understand their dog and know how to support them.

I have worked with dogs who dragged their owners down the road, to the point where it was a genuine safety worry for both of them. Those same owners now walk calmly alongside their dogs, and they have the skills to handle what comes up and keep building on it.

None of this happens overnight. With the right understanding, guidance and consistency, it does happen.

And it is not only your dog that changes. Going from confused, overwhelmed and unsure what to do, to understanding your dog, knowing how to respond and feeling confident that you can support them, is the bigger shift of the two.

What you will learn

How to understand your dog and what their behaviour is telling you

How to spot the triggers and the early signs, before a situation escalates

How to handle difficult moments while you work towards longer term change

How to build your dog’s confidence and their ability to cope

Practical skills that work in real life, not just in a training session

How to keep going confidently once we have finished

What is included

An initial behaviour consultation at your home, one hour. We look at your dog’s history, their routine, their needs and what you want to be different, and we make a start.

Three follow up sessions, forty five minutes each. At your home or at a location that suits what we are working on. Practical sessions that build on each other.

A detailed report and a step by step training plan. Written around your dog and your circumstances, so you have something to work from rather than something to remember.

Detailed notes and a session recap after every session, with the exercise sheets attached, so you can go back over anything at your own pace.

Feedback on your practice between sessions, so you are never left wondering whether you are doing it right.

Support by message throughout, for everything that comes up between one session and the next.

My progress guarantee

If you have consistently followed the training and management we agreed and you are not seeing progress, I will keep working with you at no extra cost until we have reviewed what is happening, adjusted the approach and you know what to do next.

You do not need a perfect dog

You need to understand the dog you have and know how to help them.

I know how disheartening it is to be struggling and not know what to try next. That is why my aim is to give you more than a list of exercises. I want you to finish feeling more confident, more capable, and clearer about your dog than when we started.

AVAILABILITY

I take on a small number of new clients each month, so that everyone gets the time, attention and support they need.

FAQS

Yes. Reactivity towards other dogs and pulling on the lead are the two things I work with most.

Yes. The first session is always at your home, and later sessions happen wherever suits what we are working on.

That is more common than you would think, and it is worth talking about on the call. Often the approach was fine but it was never explained in a way that let you carry it on alone.

It depends on the dog and on what you are working towards. I will give you an honest answer on the call rather than a number designed to sound appealing.

Yes to both. I am an IMDT qualified trainer at Level 3 and a Certified Pro Dog Trainer, with ongoing professional development in canine behaviour, learning and communication. I am insured with Pet Business Insurance.
